BOTM: MY OFFROAD ROAD BIKE - part 3
Andy Kessler - 24-May-2019
I have to make a confession: I have been working together with Gerard for 12 years now. 4 years while he was my boss at Cervélo and 8 years since we have started OPEN together. About 10 days ago I lied to him for the first time...not only to him but also to you.
Gerard had an email exchange with somebody that told him that the weight mentioned in the video of this months BOTM
can not be right. He called me and said he is pretty sure that actually the customer is right and this build can not be below 7kg as I say in the video. I told him no, it is correct - but it is not! Very sorry for that missinformation.
We had a couple of builds around or below 7kg before based on the U.P. or U.P.P.E.R. but this one is definitely not. It is not even below 8kg it is 8.6kg without the pedals. I had no intention at all to have a super light bike here the only goal was to test the SRAM groupset.
No idea how the 7kg number came into my head the only thing I can think off is that it was very cold in the building where we did that photo-shooting as there was no heating and the temperature must have been around 7 degrees and my brain frozen...
Here are the rest of the specifications:
